Make It Monday: Butterfly Wishes Laser Cut Cards

This past week as certainly been unlike anything we’ve ever seen on such a global scale. Although we may be social distancing in our various ways, this unprecedented time has most likely cleared many schedules and provided time to spend with family and do other things. Possibly even getting to some of those items on your “To Do” list.

For me, I’ve tried to get in some “crafting therapy” each night to provide a mental escape. One of the projects I created went back to basics…stamps, ink, and paper…to create this beautiful set of laser cut cards with the Butterfly Wishes stamp set.

Because the laser cut card is so beautiful and intricate by itself, I wanted to keep it simple with just a few added elements.

For this card, I cut some off the top of two Stitched Nested Labels and added a stamped image and sentiment.

“Make It” Instructions
Base Layer for Both Cards
  • Cut a 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ piece of your favorite colored cardstock.
  • Adhere to reverse side of laser cut panel.
“Sweet Friendship” Scalloped Oval Card
  1. Die cut a large scalloped oval from Layering Ovals dies (largest) in coordinating colored cardstock.
  2. Die cut a large stitched oval from Stitched Shapes dies (largest) in Very Vanilla cardstock.
  3. Stamp floral stem on Very Vanilla oval in coordinating ink.
  4. Adhere Very Vanilla oval to scalloped oval.
  5. Adhere assembled ovals to center of card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  6. Stamp large butterfly on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock in same color and punch out with Butterfly Duo Punch.
  7. Adhere butterfly at angle to upper right of oval.
  8. Stamp sentiment “A sweet friendship…” from Butterfly Wishes stamp set in same color ink on a 1/2″ x 4″ strip of Very Vanilla cardstock.
  9. Adhere sentiment strip across bottom of oval, attaching overhanging ends with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
NOTE: For the purple card, I used Highland Heather ink for a more subtle stamped image.

“Perfect Day” Nested Label Card
  1. Die cut a large nested label from Stitched Nested Labels dies (2nd largest) in coordinating colored cardstock.
  2. Die cut a large nested label from Stitched Nested Labels dies (largest) in Very Vanilla cardstock.
  3. Cut Very Vanilla label down to 3-1/2″. Snip off some from colored label as well.
  4. Stamp sentiment and flying butterfly on Very Vanilla label in coordinating ink.
  5. Adhere Very Vanilla label on top of colored label.
  6. Adhere assembled labels to upper middle of card.
NOTE: For the purple card, I used Highland Heather ink for a more subtle stamped image.
Need supplies for your own crafting escape?
I know many of us are stuck at home looking for ways to entertain ourselves during this time. If you would like to place an order, Stampin’ Up! is currently (and thankfully) still processing orders. Please note Stampin’ Up! has taken measures to protect their work crews, so orders are taking a few days longer to process than normal.
I’m also working on designing some crafting kits To Go for those looking for some simple and fun project kits with pre-cut supplies. I’ll post those on my Facebook page and email newsletter when available.
